Lebanon bid farewell for the "Bride of The South" Sana'a Mehaidli whose remains were returned in the framework of Operation al-Redwan at which Samir Kintar was released along with four Hezbollah fighters and the bodies of 199 Lebanese, Arab and Palestinian martyrs in exchange with two dead Israeli soldiers on July 16. Sana'a Mehaidli, who was considered to be the first Arab Lebanese woman to execute a martyrdom operation against the Israeli occupation army, was buried in her hometown Ano'un in the South on Friday afternoon. Mehaidli, a member of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party blew herself up at the age of 16 in a Peugeot car filled with 200 kg TNT explosives next to an Israeli convoy in Jezzin, South Lebanon on April 9, 1985. The operation dealt a severe blow to the Israeli army killing and injuring about 50 Israeli soldiers. Israeli military spokesman recognized the heroic operation saying that two Israeli officers were killed and two soldiers were injured in the heroic operation.
